What is ACCFT file?

ACCFT files are field templates for the accdb database format introduced with Microsoft Access 2007. Microsoft Access is a so-called desktop RDMBS (relational database management system). However, the data type templates are only available from Access 2010.

ACCFT files contain predefined field elements, which also contain data type and formatting. This template data is recorded in various XML-structured text files and stored as a zip archive in an ACCFT file. Accft files can contain a single field or field groups or field combinations.

With data type templates, repeatedly used fields or field groups can be easily integrated into new or existing databases. Accft templates can also be created or changed by yourself. If, for example, you have opened an existing database, you can save selected fields by choosing 'Save as new data type' under 'Add and delete'> Fields-> More fields 'as template' into an ACCFT file. Accft is a proprietary format and can only be processed with Microsoft Access 2010 and above.

Microsoft Access is also included in Microsoft Office Suite Professional.

In order to open a file with ACCFT extension one of the following programs must be installed on user’s system. If a problem with opening ACCFT file occurred, it is highly possible that none of the listed programs is present on user’s system. Install Microsoft Access or other program from the list

Most often resolving problems with opening ACCFT files is very simple. Just install an appropriate program that supports such files. All of the listed programs support ACCFT files, but may vary in offered function and purpose. Some programs may be capable only of viewing contents of ACCFT files or offer file conversion options, but may not be capable of editing such files.

Set Microsoft Access as the default program for opening ACCFT files

It is possible that although a compatible program has been installed on user’s system, it is not used by the system to open it. This may happen because no default application was associated with this type of files. To associate ACCFT files with given application, select "Open with" from drop-down menu (accessed by right-clicking on the file). Then select from the list the program or application you want to be used to open this type of file. If the Microsoft Access applications is not on the list, select "Browse" option in order to manually locate the directory where Microsoft Access has been installed.
