What is SLDM file?

The SLDM suffix identifies a file that contains macro-enabled slides in the Office Open XML format of the presentation software Microsoft PowerPoint as of version 2007 (Mac 2008). These files can contain text, images, audio and video as well as macros. The slides can be inserted into a presentation by inserting an object.

More info

SLDM is an XML-based file format (Office Open XML) that is unreadable with earlier versions of PowerPoint. For the Office versions 2000, 2003 and XP, this functionality can be used with the help of the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, whereby the result of a read-in SLDM file does not always have to correspond 100% to the original. There may also be restrictions when processing the macros.

Since macros can also contain malware, it is advisable to scan the files with an antivirus program. In addition, you should always have the latest updates from Microsoft Office installed.

An SLDM file consists of several XML files, which are automatically summarized as archives when saved using the ZIP algorithm. This saves space compared to the old format. Other benefits include better data integrity and easier data recovery in case of data loss.
