What is PCD file?

Files ending in PCD contain bitmap images in Kodak Photo CD format. This format was developed by Kodak as an extension of the CD-ROM standard to store digital images on CD.

More info

The format uses a proprietary compression method and supports various resolutions. The format is designed so that the CD can contain a picture in several resolutions. From the preview image with 128x128 pixels up to the professional archive image with 4096x6144.

Many programs support the image format, but many are subject to restrictions. For example, some may not read an image in all resolutions, or have trouble using color profiles correctly.
